A new amphitheater for the south side of Salem’s Riverfront Park is a little closer to reality after a committee landed on its preferred design for the venue.
The amphitheater is still years from welcoming any acts or concerts. It’s expected to open in spring 2020.
The design committee’s decision last week to go with a basket-weave design marks a step forward for the project. The design is poised to head to the Salem City Council on Oct. 23 for approval.
